As the Chairperson of the Lake Victoria Tourism Association (LVTA), Naomi Karani is responsible for providing strategic leadership, policy direction, and oversight to ensure the association achieves its mission of promoting sustainable tourism and strengthening tourism partnerships within the Lake Victoria region and the wider Western Kenya tourism circuit.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction to the association in line with LVTA’s vision and objectives.
- Chair and oversee all executive, board, and general meetings of the association.
- Represent LVTA in official functions, stakeholder engagements, tourism forums, government meetings, and partnership initiatives.
- Promote collaboration between tourism stakeholders, county governments, development partners, and private sector players.
- Guide the implementation of LVTA policies, programs, projects, and strategic plans.
- Oversee good governance, accountability, and professionalism within the association.
- Work closely with the executive committee and committees to strengthen tourism development and marketing initiatives.
- Support resource mobilization efforts and strategic partnerships for the growth and sustainability of the association.
- Advocate for sustainable tourism practices, community empowerment, and conservation initiatives across the Lake Victoria tourism circuit.
- Provide supervision and support to committee leaders and county representatives to ensure effective service delivery and member engagement.
- Act as the official spokesperson of the association on key policy and tourism matters.
- Ensure unity, transparency, and teamwork among members and stakeholders of the association.
