Treasurer – Duties and Responsibilities in LVTA

The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial management and accountability of the Lake Victoria Tourism Association (LVTA) and ensuring proper utilization and safeguarding of the association’s financial resources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the financial affairs of the association.
  • Ensure proper collection, recording, and banking of membership fees and other revenues.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, books of accounts, and transaction reports.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and statements to the Executive Committee and members.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure funds are utilized in accordance with approved budgets and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate preparation of annual budgets and financial plans for the association.
  • Ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with financial procedures and regulations.
  • Work closely with auditors and facilitate financial audits when required.
  • Advise the Executive Committee on financial planning and resource management.
  • Support fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives for organizational sustainability.
  • Ensure safe custody and proper management of the association’s financial assets and documents.
  • Collaborate with the Chairperson, CEO, and other officials in financial decision-making and planning.

The Treasurer plays a vital role in strengthening financial accountability, sustainability, and prudent resource management within LVTA while supporting the association’s growth and development objectives.
